Metal Stress Shape-memory workshop

Casual puzzle · Free · Designed for iPad

Every tapleaves a mark.

Metal Stress is a material-bending puzzle for iPhone and iPad. A thin strip is mounted in a workshop. Tap it and it flexes, then springs back holding a fraction of that bend — the metal remembers. Repeat taps on the same point to build the angle, chain several points for a sharper zigzag, and land inside the amber guide with as few taps as you can. Waiting does not undo a bend.

Sample opening bench. Orange lines are the target. The strip keeps only part of the flex.
01 · Read

Check the guide

Orange lines show the angle you are aiming for. Read that guide before you commit. The first tap already starts a bend you cannot wait away.

02 · Set

Flex, then remember

Each tap is a two-stage motion: the strip flexes, springs back, and holds a fraction of the bend. More taps on the same point build toward the required angle.

03 · Limit

Watch fatigue

Later strips carry a safe tap count. Push a joint past that limit and it cracks, costing a life. Overshoot means working around the set, not taking it back.

One strip. Then a harder shop.

The workshop starts with a single mounted strip and a readable target. Later phases add more bend points, more strips, and a tighter tolerance around the amber guide.

  1. Point

    Build one angle

Taps in the same spot stack permanent deformation in that direction. The metal never returns all the way to straight.

  2. Chain

    Zigzag the strip

Several bend points along one strip make sharper shapes. Each point still sets on its own and still remembers.

  3. Phase

    More metal, less room

Further on, layouts use more than one strip, and the window that counts as a match gets narrower. Fewer taps is the better solve.

A workshop on the device.

What the bench asks

No account is described on the store listing. You read the guide, tap the strip, and live with the set.

  • Shape memory The spring-back keeps a fraction of every flex. The rest of the bend is already in the metal.
  • No undo by waiting Time does not straighten a joint. An overshoot has to be worked around.
  • Tap economy Matching the guide in fewer taps is the cleaner solve, before fatigue has a chance to crack the joint.
  • Free, with ads The listing says the game contains advertising. The privacy sheet covers the data label.
